One-on-One Spiritual Dream Work Sessions
Drawing from her doctoral research, her work as a faculty member of the Haden Institute’s dream group leader certificate program, and her years of individual dream work, Sheri weaves together the transformative practice of dream work within a framework of Jungian psychology and a process spirituality that is ever-becoming and flowing with the Spirit of Life.
In his book, The Shape of Practical Theology, Ray S. Anderson relates a conversation he had early in his ministry with a congregant who told him that “it was easy to agree to the omnipotence of God – that [God] could do everything – but what was of more immediate concern was whether God could do anything in particular. If it is important to know and believe that God is omnipresent – that [God] is everywhere present – one could readily assent, but what one really longed for was to discover God present in the small space of one’s personal life.”
It is Sheri’s deep conviction that any theology that does not help people to experience transforming encounters with God is a worthless theology. It is her theory – based on both personal experience and on the observation of attendees of the annual Haden Institute Summer Dream and Spirituality Conference held in Hendersonville, NC – that one can come to be aware of God’s presence and transformative work in one’s life through working with one’s dreams in a spiritual approach.
Dream work is a spiritual practice for authentic living, psychological
integration and wholeness, and positive transformation.
Dream Divina is a contemplative practice that Sheri developed that draws from time-tested and powerful contemplative practices including lectio divina, praying with icons, and praying with the imagination. Sheri periodically offers online Dream Divina events where participants will be contemplatively guided through a deep dive into one of their dreams.
